Uber Class - Action Lawsuit CALIFORNIA - Drivers read this!

Amidst much turmoil between big rideshare apps, a judge in California has set a trial date and agreed in favor of independent contractors arguments who feel they should be compensated more fairly and treated as employees.  Employees are due the gratuity they deserve, crucial benefits, fare wages, and payment for some vehicle maintenance expenses.

Are you an Uber driver in California?  Do you recall quickly clicking accept to Uber's latest policy changes on Friday Dec. 11 JUST so that you could get on the road and start driving?  I bet you didn't read the FINEPRINT that discusses the recent developments in an on-going lawsuit against the company and that by accepting the new policy, you are also signing an arbitration agreement preventing you from signing onto the lawsuit.  It is easier and cheaper for Uber to have thousands of individual lawsuits rather than a class-action.  This is because no one has the time or money to get their own lawyer for one thing.

Here is a timeline :
2014 - Uber changed the driver agreement to add an arbitration clause that removed the driver's right to sue the company.

3/11/15 - Federal Judge Edward M. Chen in San Fran denied Uber's motion for summary judgment and set a trial before a jury.

Wednesday 12/9/15, the federal judge in San Fran threw out the 2014 agreement.  Now, all of the 160,000 drivers who have worked for Uber in California since 2009 can be included in the class-action.

Friday, 12/11/15 - Uber issued new language to driver agreements that forces drivers to resolve disputes in private and not be part of the class-action.

In 2 days, Thursday 12/17/15 - Shannon Liss-Riordan, the Boston Attorney leading the case against Uber is filling and emergency motion to stop Uber's from enforcing Friday's agreement.

IMPORTANT!   Word online is that drivers MUST email optout@uber.com to preserve their right to be part of future class-action lawsuits.  Drivers have 30 days to email out of the mandatory arbitration.

What is a Blog? What is this blog? What is ONE THOUSAND FOREHEADS ?

Blog is a cool word that means public diary with life reflections, or informative and interesting editorials and articles about anything and everything.  So why this, why me, why now?  Why screenshots of hardly relative google image search results?

Let me address your questions and concerns.  This is an experiment.  Can I provide greater understanding of the on demand culture?  YES!  Can we integrate the peer to peer and sharing economy model to the point of reversing some of our current carbon based and unsustainable practices?  YES!  Can we all benefit from the influx of jobs and empowerment from technology?  Heavens YES!

This blog was created to tell stories, provide solutions, and engage progressive people into action to better themselves and their communities.  It was inspired by the foreheads I would see in the back seat of rideshare rides.  The genuine connections I made with people since February brought on this desire to share my story and share solutions I've found that changed my life.

I've narrowed my life down to desiring experiences over possessions and conquering the challenges and obstacles in life with a gracious smile and giving heart.  This blog is part of my gift to those who seek current information about the dynamic on demand, sharing, and peer to peer companies and technology.

1k4heads - ONE THOUSAND FOREHEADS - 1000FH - A LA BLOG FOR HEADS

What is One Thousand Foreheads?

It's a funny way of saying 1000 people.  It's a word combination not widely used.  It's an intimidating notion.  It's a flash of light in my mind.  It's a source of great power.  It's grey and white matter guided circuitry which materializes my thoughts.  It's and idea, a movement, a lifestyle.

Earlier this year, my number of completed rides as an lyft / sidecar / uber driver approached 1000 after just a few months of driving!  As one does, I literally discussed some of my ideas and plans and my life to 99% of the app users not to mention the hundreds of people I talked with while picking up and delivering food orders with Eat24 / doordash / GrubHub.

These interactions moved me and it was my perpetual intention to try to conceptualize why peoples paths cross and how I could help people's endeavors.   It's embarrassing but true to say but I wanted approval from these people.  The chit-chat and banter matters.  I am a driver and a therapist; a song selector and a listening ear;  an eager entrepanuer and a motor mouth.

So this BLOG was born!  A way to share my story on my terms about the ups and higher ups of the on demand, peer to peer, app culture!  Thank you for reading..

Local Job Fair - Downtown LA - This Saturday December 5 2015

ONE THOUSAND FOREHEADS

COMMUNITY BLOG - LOS ANGELES, CA

_________________________________________________________________________________

This Saturday, Dec. 5th, in Downtown LA, there is a small opportunity event taking place in a new gallery space.  This meager event has some solid foundations and could potentially aid jobseekers to "fill the gap".  Partnerships with on-demand services LYFT, IWIN, UBER, sales opportunities from Gung Shoes, STREAMAX TV, LoveOnRevolution.com, PLUS loan consultant jobs, marketing gigs, volunteer opportunities and others present motivation for people to get right to work.

This is a slideshow from the event host that presents what personal services come from being a job mentor specifically for Uber drivers or people wanting to get into driving for a living.  You would be keen to know, if you wanted to try Postmates for a day, delivering groceries for upwards of $25 per hour, you could try it by renting a new electric Nissan Leaf for $5 an hour from a local hub here in Los Angeles.

Rent your space on Airbnb

In over 190 countries, the online listing application AIRBNB has connected millions of users with unique accommodations from apartments to castles to glamping on back porches.  Since it's inception in a dingy SF apartment in 2007 with two guys who were struggling to pay rent it has grown to a 10 billion dollar company.

It was a novel idea that you can take part in.  You can create an account in minutes and find great hotel alternatives.  Or you can host people!  If you have extra space in your home and can list that space on the app or website effectively, you can make extra money with little effort.

Media Streaming Box

There's really been a buzz lately about media streaming devices.  Not the Roku3 or Amazon Fire or Apple TV where users have to pay for every movie or channel.  I'm talking about the mini computer stream boxes coming out by a variety of companies with user friendly platforms that connect to an internet meta-program called KODI.  New companies are popping up from everywhere and it can be confusing to know what product to choose.

As a salesman, trying to decide on a manufacturer that I can trust to deliver a good product with continued tech support as well as a structure for the representatives pushing the product wasn't easy.

Finally, I narrowed it down to
STREAMAX TV!

They already gave me a website where people can purchase and sign up to become a brand rep themselves. http://1000foreheads.streamaxtv.net
The device has a very user friendly platform, crystal clear picture, and wifi.  I've been demoing the MAXAPP which is the program used to connect to KODI and it is smooth and simple.  Stay tuned for more on this!
